| This is a workday for the Pink Palace Crafts Fair. We
will continue to warp the Peacock Looms, as well as organize items
for exhibition and sale. Now is the time for all members to turn in
their hand woven items for exhibition and sale in the Guild booth
at the Crafts Fair. Tags and labels will be provided. The Weaver’s
Challenge projects are due and will be featured in a special display
at the Crafts Fair. Scarf-in-a-Day volunteers will meet and begin to prepare for the event to be held on Saturday, October 28th. |

| Do you wonder what Convergence 2006 was like? Do you wonder what a Convergence is? Do you want to take a weaving workshop, but do not know where to start looking or what teachers are good? This guild share program will answer all of your questions. Our members who attended Convergence 2006 and/or participated in a workshop will tell us about their experiences. This is the time for sharing new experiences, educating fellow weavers, and inspiring all of us to seek new horizons in our art. | |

| Debbie Sellmansberger will host our Holiday Luncheon in Williston, TN (new location). Bring your favorite dish to share, as well as a weaving related item for the silent auction. Proceeds to benefit the Joyce Quigley Award at the Memphis College of Art. | |
Tapestry Weaving Workshop - Linda Weghorst |

| Tapestry is a structurally simple but visually rich option for creating unique woven textiles. Participants will prepare a tapestry loom and learn basic tapestry techniques such as plain weave, stripes, slits, joinings as well as methods for creating shapes and shading. Designing for tapestries, creating cartoons and finishing techniques will be included. Textural weaves such as rya knots, loops and soumac will also be demonstrated. The topic will be illustrated with printed information, slides, books and woven samples. A tapestry loom will be required. These can be purchased or handmade. Plans and assistance will be provided prior to the workshop. No weaving experience is needed to enjoy this workshop. | |
“Rigid Heddle Looms - the little looms that can” - Felicitas Sloves |

| The rigid heddle loom has often been overlooked by the weaving world. But with a few modifications, this versatile loom can weave overshot, doubleweave, lace and tapestry. Additionally, it is compact, portable, and very quick to thread! Felicitas Sloves will have a few looms set up to demonstrate the various weave possibilities and have members try them out. We’ll all be surprised at what this little loom can do. . . | |

“Stripes With an Attitude” Workshop - Barbara Walker |

| Bold or subtle, stripes can be so much more than different colored threads. Learn the roles color, texture, pattern, and structure can play in designing stripes with pizzazz. Sample weaving includes twill and lace manipulations, textured lines, extracting portions of turned patterns, and various uses of supplementary warps. | |

| We extend an invitation to all our fiber friends to join us for our year-end luncheon. At this time we ask all of our members to participate in our yearly survey, which helps to determine the programs and workshops for the following year. Location to be announced. | |
| Note: Meetings will be held at the St. John's United Methodist Church at the corner of Peabody and Bellevue in Memphis unless otherwise indicated. Members are encourages to bring current projects, weaving problems, new yarns, or ideas to share. Prior to every program there will be a brief business meeting. | |
