Weaving Room at St. John's

Learn to weave beautiful fashion accessories with simple tapestry and beading techniques. Pin loom weaving will be used to create elegant pins and neckpieces. Basic tapestry weaving and finishing techniques will be taught. Color and creativity will be encouraged as participants design and create complete handwoven items.

Supplies Needed by Participants

  • scissors, notebook, pen,
  • thick foam core cut to 12 by 24 inches (optional if you want to make a necklace), available at hobby and art stores
  • 5/2’s pearl cotton in small amounts or floss (both available in small skeins from hobby and sewing stores)
  • variety of beads -with larger holes (not small seed beads)
  • $10.00 for workshop kits

Kits include

  • small foam core boards
  • graph paper
  • pins
  • weaving needle
  • waxed linen warp
  • plastic fork
  • pin backs for finishing of pin
  • information booklet
